When pink eye hits a school or day care it often goes around like wildfire. Your child and even the rest of your family can be brought down with this itchy eye and made to be quite miserable quickly. The first reaction of many is to head off to the store and get creams and ointments for relief. There are many home remedies that are even better for making your eye feel better and look better. The first thing to do may seem like common sense. It is true if you itch or bug the eye it is going to not get better quickly and may in fact get worse. With lots of scratching you can spread it to your other eye.
Make sure to keep your face and eyes clean and more importantly wash your hands with warm soapy water often. Elderberry and Chamomile tea helps with relief. Often drinking it will help you find relief but this is not the best use of these home remedies. Actually applying it to the irritated eye will get you faster relief on the road to recovery. You can apply the tea bag directly to the eye or cool the tea and use a cotton ball that’s clean.
